Plea #11:
This is the poem I wrote today, I call it, "Sunlit Maze"
Oh sun. Oh tree. Oh to the mountains and me.
I plea for the sun to cast upon thee.
For its rays to shine their sublime lines
Upon my skin so I may soak them in...
But after a while I feel my skin trial.
It dries and will peel, for the sun does not kneel.
What once I sought out, has now left me with doubt.
I retreat from its rays, I dash in a haze.
The sun says I'm dazed. It beckons once more for my graze.
But I won't fall for its glaze, it only causes me craze.
I run and I trip til I find myself covered in maze.
The damp plants, they cool me, relief felt at last.
But after a while, their cool reaches full mast.
My muscles, they shiver.
An ache forms in my liver.
The maze, like the sun, has revealed itself, not as a giver.
My legs, they crumble.
I begin to stumble.
Suddenly I wish once more for its gaze;
The star I once rejected,
The warmth I neglected.
Only now, do I know the wrong of my ways.
