Plea #54: Birdwatching There’s all kinds o’ birds out in the forest, y’here?
Whenever I go foragin’ to restock, I swear I see 3 whole new species every dang time!
It’s sure-as-sun one o’ my favorite parts ’bout the forest.
I reckon we could learn a thing or two from ’em!
They sing all day, don’t bother nobody, an’ make a home wherever’s free!
Us “intelligent” critters act like we’re better jus’ ’cuz we’re more suffisticated, but I don’t reckon that’s right.
What do we do with our smarts?
Squabble over land? Work? Obsess over purpose?
Who cares!
Wun’t life be better if yer only concern were romancin’ a gal, buildin’ a nest, an’ spittin’ food into yer kid’s mouth?
You don’t even gotta urn the food!
You just find it on the ground!
Life’s so much nicer when yer a tiny li’l bird, I tell you hwat!
I romanticize it, though, I know I do.
Heck, I already got it purty good.
I’m stocked up on caps, an’ spent the whole time occupyin’ myself with dreams o’ growin’ teeny wings.
Maybe next time I oughtta scratch down what birds I see.
